I have a 2006 Hyundai Tucson GLS with the 3.5 V6, has about 128K on the clock. Yesterday when Im leaving in morning for work, the car wont turn over, all the warning lights come on as I turn the key like they always do, but wont crank, wont spin the starter either, its not battery because everything is lighting up as it should. (and I also had the battery tested, its good).

Everytime I tried to turn the key to start, my hazards would flash on twice (this is the anti-theft, starter disable), so I mess with the key FOB, locking and unlocking doors with the FOB buttons a few times and then the car starts. It ran fine and started like normal the rest of the day.

Im not sure if my key FOB is going bad, needs a new battery, or something electrical in the car related to the factory alarm/ starter disable function.

Im not sure if there is an easy way to bypass and basically turn off the factory alarm, so I dont have to deal with this all the time, or if someone has another fix that works, it would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Everything lighting up doesn't indicate that the battery is necessarily good.

The amperage draw for lights and everything else is nothing compared to what the starter needs to turn over the engine.

Is it a transponder (chip) key? Do you have another key/fob?

How old is the battery? How exactly was it tested?

Those are the simpler things to check first before tearing into the anti-theft system.

When I first bought this car, I went to start it one day and when I turned the key, lights and other stuff came on, but they were less bright, door chimes not as loud, turns out it was the battery then, it was a parasetic drain from the factory radio (since been replaced).

I had the battery tested at Autozone, I think they check the amps.

The hazards flashing on a couple times when I went to turn the key made me think the anti-theft system was to blame, it did not do that before when the battery was low.

I do have another key fob, going to get new batteries for both and see what happens.

Same issue, lasted for months. New battery solved the issue. At least your anti theft alarm didn't keep sounding.
