That may be the KDM badging. I've seen it on a few current generation Optimas.

So now, I just can’t see spending $5k - $8k more for the Lexus. Sure, the handling is a bit tighter, the interior slightly better, but in terms of the overall package, the Hyundai beats out the Lexus quite handily. Bear in mind, I come from the generation that detests Hyundai, so this is a big step for me.

So, now I’m wondering what other cars should I be looking at?

BMW/Mercedes/Audi -I fear the long term reliability and costs of German cars.
Infiniti - Q70 is nice but feels dated inside, the Q50 doesn’t have cooled seats available at all.
Volvo - boring
Acura - FWD

Any suggestions ?

Buy it...then look me up when you are ready to sell it 5 years down the road. ;-)

Lexus is way better.
Hyundai still needs years or decades to make cars that car compete with Japanese, European and American cars.

I've owned 2 Hyundai's, a Tiburon and a Sonata. I liked both of them. My wife didn't care for the Tiburon because it had 2 doors she liked the Sonata. I sold the Sonata to my son. He and his wife now have 130,000 miles on it. Between us it has had oil changes, tires and brakes. It was recalled to have the passanger seat recalibrated because the pass air bag sensor was having trouble with light people. We were very happy with the treatment from the dealer. I would buy another one without a second thought.

In which specific ways are you referring to?

Overall quality. reliability is ok.
Lack of class against other brands. Lexus is sexier than any Hyundai.

i never driven genesis but Sonata and Elantra are worst handling cars in their class.

Yeah because luxury cars all keep their value. Sure there may be some residual higher value but that's because it stated at 10k more in cost.

This is an area where the vast majority of car buyers won't agree with you but everyone has a right to an opinion! Lexus has possibly the worst styling designs on the market right now, absolutely hideous compared to even the same models from a generation prior.

IMO the Lexus looks much better. I'm not a fan of the cheap looking led lights of the Genesis. OP the 2015 Infiniti Q70 5.6 has 420 hp and climate controlled seats. Starts at $62k and looks better then Genesis also
