I'm sure there were similar reactions when manufacturers started getting rid of cassette players in their cars.

We found a CD and popped it in one day just to make sure it worked while the warranty is still in effect. We bought this (2014) in the fall of 2013 and have yet to use the CD player. It's almost to the point where the cassette was in 2002. So much easier to pop a flash drive into the USB port or connect to the phone or tablet.

Great for Big Business bad for the consumer IMO
Well, that's the Alex Jones version anyway. The real-world explanation is much simpler: Vanishingly few people use CDs any more. It's no different than when they started phasing out in-dash cassette players 15 or so years ago.

There is no evidence anyone is removing USB/Audio-in from cars. They are still very in-demand features, unlike the CD player.

However, even if this hypothetical scenario were to come true, Bluetooth still allows you to play whatever you want from your phone.

I don't see any way you would be forced into cloud-based streaming services.

I still enjoy tossing a CD in my old Alpine deck one and while 15-years ago it's hard to believe I paid $680 bucks for it back then LOL times have sure changed the upside is atleast I do not have to worry about it getting stolen anymore

In the United States, the last manufacturer to offer a cassette player was Lexus, in 2011.

I couldn't even tell you how the CD player works on my car. Bluetooth Audio is an essential to me.
