Can any one reccomend a good place to board a dog in the Madison/Harvest area. We have a 12 yr old sheltie that has never been boarded.

We have been using Pet Pawlor off of 72 for our grooming and plan on borading our two 7-year-old dogs there when we go out of town. I also know they do daycare during the day for dogs and seem to be excellent with the animals in general. We were very pleased with the grooming.

We have used Top Dog and have had a good experience there. Top Dog Boarding Kennel

Also, there is a new one near Madison in Tanner, AL called Bark Avenue Pet Resort. 256-233-4343. They are at 19135 Nuclear Plant Rd, Tanner, AL and are worth checking out. Drove by this weekend and wow! They are working on getting a web-site up.

Default Dog Day Care

Wow - I wish you were asking this about 6-7 months from now! We moved here in June 06 and after being unable to find a perfect place to board our Sheltie, I started a search that has lasted almost 2 years and has resulted in a life changing decision. I'm planning to open Alabama's first Camp Bow Wow! You can check it out at www.campbowwow.com. It's the only place I found that truly treated dogs the way I wanted my dog treated. One of the best parts was watching him play ALL DAY on the web cams, he came home exhausted and the next morning ran straight for the door tail wagging to go again! I'm hoping to be open by early spring but no later than early summer. Hope you'll keep your eye out for us! Feel free to email with any questions you may have,

Regards,
Tami Smallwood

We tried Bark Avenue Pet Resort in November. Wow! It is awesome with indoor/outdoor runs. It is just down Browns Ferry Rd in Tanner, AL.

You'd think there would be one or two higher-end boarding places closer to HSV. I suspect a big market for dog boarding once BRAC workers settle in. For now, any place I find with decent reviews is way out of the way.

If anyone wants to open one, I would by that old ABC Store/19th Hole at the corner of Madison Blvd and the ramps to the airport. It would be a great place to have a 24 hour kennel. It is slightly wooded and since it is between Madison Blvd and I-565, barking would not be an issue. It would be so convenient to be able to drop off your dog on your way out of town on a plane (or I-565 to Birmingham or Nashville and beyond).

Since we are posting for things pretty far away. I love this place---
Tuscaloosa K9 Camp‎18662 Robertson Road, Echola, AL 35457(205) 330-8319 They are absolutely fantastic, they also do training camps. If you are headed down for a 4 day game weekend and need a place to board near T-town I'd go here.

I'm very happy taking my dog to the Happy Tail Ranch in Big Cove for day care and overnight stays.

I did go yesterday to check out Bark Ave...I was super impressed! Unfortunately for me, they are quite booked up.
My pups will be returning to Happy Tails this weekend I and guess they are as excited as they can be about being boarded, but they do seem pretty happy at Happy Tails!
