It was a cotton warehouse, a big gray metal building. It and a second one had a water tower attached to put out any fires in the cotton, but it was torn down. A few years ago someone was going to put in something, I don't remember what, but I guess it fell through.

Drove by a couple days ago, looks like they were starting to tear up the foundation.

I remember hearing it was going to be converted to be a brewery back in the mid-late '90's.
There are still one or two other warehouses on Short Street; don't know what they are used for but had to drive by them when Martin was being improved a few years back.

When I came to Madison 6 years ago, there was a huge, extremely old barn was there.
