Coming this summer, American Airlines will offer Saturday only nonstop from Huntsville (HSV) to Miami (MIA). Seasonal flights like this are all the rage now as airlines begin to recover from Covid.

The seasonal flights will be available on Saturdays beginning June 5. Flights will depart Huntsville at 6 a.m. with return flights leaving Miami at 8:15 p.m.
Welcome aboard!

Huntsville's new skate park in the works, seeks your input.

https://whnt.com/news/huntsville-to-...lic-skatepark/

"The park will be built by Team Pain and incorporate elements of Huntsville’s Get-A-Way Skatepark, which used to be on Leeman Ferry Road in the 1980s.

Tony Hawk’s group The Skatepark Project is contributing $10,000 to the Huntsville park’s development, which is also being funded with a $1 million anonymous donation. The Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville is raising money for the project, which will cost an estimated $4 million.

Tony Hawk released a statement Wednesday about the project.

“The Huntsville skatepark was one of the most legendary parks on the east coast because of its unique design,” Hawk said in a statement released by the city of Huntsville. “It’s exciting to see some of the original elements in the new plans, so we can share how it felt riding those revolutionary parks as young adults with a new generation.”

That's really fairly significant. I don't think there's ever been a non-stop from here to Miami.

Does anybody know how many apartment complexes are being built in the metro? Just off the top of my head I can think of several:

1) The Collins at Town Madison (in addition to The Station)
2) The ones next to the AC Hotel downtown
3) New complex at Constellation on the fringe of downtown
4) At least one complex at Trailhead
5) At least one at Clift Farms
6) The one just announced at Providence
7) A large complex in the SW quadrant Hw72/Research Park Blvd (another large one just opened there a year or so ago)
8) A soon-to-start "mixed use" complex next to the Madison Golf Center
9) Apartment or condos on Sullivan Street in Madison

These are just the ones I can think of, and are all fairly large (290 units or greater). Any more? They seem to be popping up everywhere.

Groundbreaking today at the Governor’s Drive /14th street development next to Stovehouse. This is a huge development and game changer for Westside and that whole area.

The Beach Company, broke ground today on The Range and The Foundry in west Huntsville. These two properties will serve as the gateway entering Governors Drive and span more than 14 acres near Stovehouse.

The Range will feature over 50,000 square feet of office space, while The Foundry will include 10,000 square feet of restaurants, 300+ apartments and 14 townhomes
Easy acces to I-565 and adjacent to downtown a great infill project along the Governor’s Dr and Clinton Ave corridor to downtown.

Construction should begin in the next few months on the previously announced Autograph Hotel downtown.
Finishing up the adjacent parking garage currently.
Also the Hampton Inn and Suites on the opposite side of the new parking deck is progressing nicely.
The Curio Hotel 106 Jefferson downtown will open in May.
