My birthday is in June and I'm looking to take a mini-vacation here in Texas somewhere. Been to San Antonio before as well as Dallas. What are your favorite vacation spots?

Anywhere on the coast. I love Houston too, though! Galveston has recovered well from Ike, and is always a great place for a mini-vacation. Lots of beach houses still for rent in Surfside. Or, go a little further, and check out Rockport / Port Aransas. NICE! Or, throw all caution to the wind, and go to South Padre Island. Any one of those locations on the coast are set up for tourism and will have lots of stuff to do, places to eat, etc.

If you're looking for a beach vacation, I'd say go to South Padre Island or Corpus Christy. Galveston if you want a shorter drive.

Another idea is New Braunfels. Go tubing on the river and go to Schlitterbahn water park. Tons of fun!!

Austin is a lot of fun too. Plenty to see and do. And close to New Braunfels if you want to do both.

Marble Falls area on a motorcycle. For that matter, anywhere in the Hill Country, motorcycle or not.

Just sayin'....

Tube in the hill country!

I recommend the Comal or Guadalupe Rivers in and around New Braunfels, or South Llano State Park by Junction, TX (about an hour and a half west of San Antonio on I-10).

I would say Hill Country! Not a fan of Tx beaches.

Fredericksburg - walk main street, German restaurants, museums, Luckenbach, Enchanted Rock, Pedernales State Park, Exotic Zoo in Johnson City, etc.
New Braunfels - walk downtown district and visit Gruene (Google Gruene if you haven't heard of it, it's a blast!)
Fort Worth- yes Forth Worth! Stay in a downtown hotel and walk around Sundance Square. Take in some culture at Bass Hall. Visit their exceptional museum district, etc.
Corpus Christi/Rockport - I miss Corpus.

The Greatwolf Lodge in Grapevine is a blast! I took my kids there last summer and we all had a great time.
It is an indoor/outdoor water-park and hotel. A little on the pricey side, but worth it.
They also have one here in PA, and I will be checking that one out this summer.
