Overcrowded jails prompt Houston police to halt some arrests | khou.com | Khou.com - News, Houston news, Texas News, Headlines

I wonder how much room we would free up if we would just deport the Illegals?

Well, you have to put them somewhere before you deport them. Of course, not much is stopping them from coming right back over.

How about ending drug prohibition? We have nothing to show for it but overcrowded jails, and people are still getting high regardless.

Sounds like we need to start warming up the chair. I'm sure there are a few dozen inmates who should have sat on that thing long ago.

Well, this isn't the first time Houston has had an overcrowded jail; it is the first time though since the bigger jail was built, so what does that tell you? Fills up fast...

Making drugs legal won't solve this kind of problem, I'm afraid.

Prison is not the same thing as jail.

What??? It's a jail; not prison. Some of these people haven't even went to trial yet.

Actually, I think it will. The war on drugs is a major expense overall and has done nothing to solve the drug problem. Just like Prohibition didn't work but we finally had the sense to repeal it. Just think how many more jails we would need if we brought back Prohibition.

It should depend on how much you have if you have 1 joint they should give you a $500 ticket & if you have more than that then you goto jail. If our country cracked down harder on drugs within 10 to 20 yrs the drung problem would not be much of a factor any more. I am some who strongly thinks drugs should not be legal if you do make them legal them middle school age children are gonna start getting hooked on drungs not a message we want to send the rest of the world
