We are looking to buy in the memorial area. Very interested in the Wilchester/Wilchester West area because there are more houses on the market and the schools are awesome and it is closer to parks.

Based on the discussion on this board, we somehow have the impression that it takes under 30mins to get to downtown from the Wilchester area. But when we were checking a particular house's distance from downtown on Googlemap, it says it takes about 50mins to get there in traffic. Is it for real? 50mins??

Please someone help us here. If it really takes up to 50mins to get to downtown from Wilchester during rush hour, we would have to cross 77079 off our list.

BTW, we work downtown around McKinney @ Carolina.

Thank you so much!!!

Thank you so much for the reply, Mom2Feebs. Just to be sure, it is still under 30mins even during rush hour, like 7 something in the morning, positive? Thank you.

No, 25 minutes tops. less if it's not rush hour.Prime rush hour it's really about 10 minutes from the Beltway to 610...it's just inside 610 that it gets sticky.

There seems to be major backup around Shepard lately though, so I would get off around Silber and shoot down Memorial, through the park, and into downtown.

Sometimes the google map times can be way off. It once quoted me 3 hours for a drive that took me 1.5 hrs.

You'll love the homes, native trees, schools (#1 in the city) & commute. Wilchester really can't be beat unless your only want new......and we even have some new homes from recent tear downs.

The improvement in the Katy Fwy (I-10 to the west of town) drastically reduced the commute. Likely 30 minutes (its 20 for me going the opposite way).

These days a lot of the Katy Freeway has 6 lanes, plus you have the middle toll lane.
