Hi,

I thought to simplify things and create one thread solely devoted to links and resources that you think would help me learn as much about Houston as possible. Please list any and all links that you think would be helpful in aiding me in the mastery of this city.

P.S...I looked in to apartments in Houston and according to Craigs list I should have NO PROBLEM finding a one bedroom for $600. I might even find a studio for around $500 but regardless we're swimming in a good price range. With your help I checked the Inner Loop area, which seems to be the common agreement with regards to my interests. Now it's a matter of narrowing down to the right neighborhood..

I'm glad this Craigs list shows pics! I hope that it's all legitimate and not a sham. The few pics I looked at had beautiful apartments but appeared to be "desolate" more like a suburban layout. I'm sure I'll come across something close to Univ of Houston DT.

Thanks guys this is a great start! Over the next seven months I will be doing research on both Portland and Houston. Thankfully I narrowed it down to two cities as opposed to going through 20 or more. Once I decide on the right city for me I will start seeking employment. I don't want to arrive anywhere unless I have a good job lined up. Once that piece is in place I can go ahead and register for school.

I understand Houston has 5 community colleges. Is Univ of Houston DT the closest in proximity to the neighborhood I seek as well as community ammenities I'm looking for? Or are there other colleges you'd recommend?

UH-Downtown is on the northern border of DT. The main campus of HCC is in midtown. Both are within a 15 minute drive from the museum district, Montrose and the Heights. The main campus of UH is only a further 5-10 minutes away.
