I am under the impression that Lee High School is quite bad. The internet tells me that people zoned to Lee can attend either Westside or Lamar instead. How serious is this option -- does everyone who want to take it get it, or is there some kind of lottery?

In a similar way, I see that you can apply to transfer schools in general if there is space available. Are the decent schools completely full and not accepting transfers, or does this work out?

Lee High School is a good school. "Colored" doesn't always mean bad. Besides if your child does good with academics they can take advantage of the top 10% and be automatically accepted to any college. Lamar and Westside are WAY more competitive and the likelihood of being in the top 10% is very low unless your child is some super genius.

Yeah that was pretty crazy. Besides that basketball game there hasnt been anything else that had to do with the school itself.

Wait a minute. Isn't Lee the school where the honor student, class president, model student conspired with his classmate to kill the honor student's mother. Furthermore, did not a lot of kids in the school knew about it and did not say a word. Maybe I'm wrong?

like I said, has nothing to do with the school itself, students do bad things in every school even in suburbs, this didnt take place on campus so it really is not relevant

I guess you are right. The way the story got connected to the school was that the alleged murderer was picked up on school campus by HISD police dealing drugs. When he was arrested his DNA was linked to the unrelated school murder.

Lee High School was named one of the "worst performing schools in Texas" by the TEA just a few months ago and has an "Academically Unacceptable" rating. It may have been a good school at one time, but no longer.

If Lee is a good school, I would hate to see your definition of a bad one.
