Love the Winter Olympics. Watched the opening ceremonies tonight with my two oldest kids. I really enjoyed the show they put on... felt bad about the malfunction with the cauldron at the end.

Can't wait for hockey, snowboarding halfpipe and the short track speed skating. That short track is d@mn entertaining .

Beautiful show!! Tough act to follow the Beijing Games, but with a much smaller budget I thought they did wonderful -really like the choice of colors, the theme, -and the singers were outstanding!! They didn't hide KD Lang behind the stage the way the Chinese government hid that poor girl with crooked teeth!

I am so glad you posted this. I wasn't watching them when I read it and went and turned the tv on and was able to see most of the opening ceremony. I missed the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony that everyone was going gaga over. I meant to buy the DVD just to see if it was all that wonderful, but never got round to it.

Cmon' that is a ridiculous statement. Besides, I don't see too many "sports" in the olympics. I, like many people, prefer sports to have a score and a final outcome determined by the game itself. Hockey is good for that.

Many of the olympic events are "judged". Give me basketball, football, hockey, baseball any day of the week. Shoot, I'd even watch a soccer match before I watched figure skating.

I'll be watching paint dry....then I may turn on the olympics.

I'm watching them, very cool, though I hate how everything is now going to be compared to the Beijing Summer Olympic Games.

At least compare the summer opening ceremonies to other summer opening ceremonies, not a winter olympics opening ceremony. Its like comparing a dog's bark to a pup's bark. Obviously, one is more popular, more watched, etc.

With that said, Vancouver did a great job, and my favorite part was the "whales swimming in the ocean floor."

Since I'm relitavely young, and didn't actually start watching the olympics since 2008, how did Vancouver fare against other opening ceremonies?

Go USA!
