I am driving to San Antonio today with my 2.5 year old daughter. I want to stop somewhere around the halfway point as she gets very antsy in the car for too long. Can anyone tell me if there are any neat places to stop along the way??

TIA

Default Not sure, but...

Flatonia will be about the halfway point, you could stop in at the big McDonalds (I know). Also, when you get to Guadalupe County, they have a nice Rest Area with a little mini museum inside, but with the nice weather, it may be nice just to hang out at the little playground they have for kids. There are other places, just drive through the small cities, they are nice to visit, but I cannot recall which ones I visited. Just take the Business route through the city, it is just nice to drive through, or stop at the shops.

There's a state park along the way with a great playground. and picnic tables. Trying to think of the name...Palmetto State Park ....

Actually, Schulenburg is about the halfway point. Frank's Restaurant, which is right on the interstate in Schulenburg, has good food (they used to have excellent fried chicken). Pick up a loaf of fresh baked white or cinnamon raisin bread to go...yum!

But Frank's is decidedly NOT cool -- just a roadside family restaurant.
