My husband is getting transfered from the UK to their office in Houston (W Sam Houston Pkwy N ) by the end of the year. We have 3 children. The oldest just turned 5 and started school this september here in the UK and then we have a 2yr and 1 yr old.

Obviously we have a thousand questions going through our heads at this moment but will really appreciate it if any of you can give us ideas of very family friendly neighborhoods/communities with good schools and pre-schools for the younger ones. Which of course is within a reasonable commute form husband's office in W Sam Houston Pkwy N. We will be renting for the first year, so how much can we expect to pay per month for a 4 bedroom house.
I have so much going through my head at the moment cant make sense myself but obviously our main concern at the moment is which neighborhood to start searching for for a house to rent. i will be adding more questions as thime goes on.

Looking forward to your replies.

From what I have been reading so far I am torn between Cinco Ranch and Sugarland. Are these 2 communities a comuteable distance to W Sam Houston Pkwy N?

Not really. I would suggest the Champions area - or Fairfield. Someone answered 77079 zip code, but that is too far and you can get rentals and buys less expensive that is actually closer to your husband's work.

Your work area appears to be near where Beltway 8 meets 249. Sugarland is all the way on the other side of Houston from there. The area just N of there is called Cypress and has some very nice neighborhoods.

Here is a thread on Cypress: https://www.city-data.com/forum/houst...s-cypress.html

Some pics of Cypress: https://www.city-data.com/forum/houst...hood-pics.html

you can do a forum search for more info.

Cypress and the "HP Corridor" (neighborhoods located between Hwy 249 and 290 off Louetta) is a good bet. Easy commute for you.

Big trees, exemplary schools, very low crime.

Check the following neighborhoods on HAR.com

Lakewood Oaks Estates, Lakewood Glen, Lakewood Glen Trails, Wincrest Falls, Hidden Falls, Longwood, Coles Crossing, Rock Creek, Quail Forest, Hunter's Valley, Lakewood Forest, Villaggio, Tuscany, Lakewood Crossing, Lismore Lake, Stable Gate, Cypress Creek Reserve, Village Creek, Lakewood Grove, Northpointe Forest, Gettysburg, Villages at Northpointe, Lakes at Northpointe, Treeline, Park at Arbordale, Stillwater Village, Oak Hollow Estates, Lakes of Rosehill, Park Forest, Secret Forest, Northlake Forest, etc.

When we came over for our pre-relo visit from the UK we thought we would be over that side of town. I loved The Bridgelands development up the 290 but don't know what your husband's commute would be like. We ended up buying a house way down in Pearland . Commuting is a serious business over here, personally I think Sugarland would be too much, although it is also a lovely area. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. Good luck with the move.

Sugar Land and Cinco Ranch in Katy are very nice. I like the Cinco Ranch area a little more, because of the schools.
