No.

Here's the real deal.
Try Fung's kitchen on 59 and Bellarie, or any of the Chinese restaurants on Bellarie between Gessner and Beltway 8. Lucky Pot, Banana Leaf, Confucious Seafood come to mind...

I think Yao's is Americanized Chinese. Good, but no real kick.

PF Changs is terrible. Suburban Chain Chinese. Bleech.

Many restaurants 'Americanize' their food to appeal to the palate of the masses. I knew of a number of ethnic restaurants who make dishes differently depending on who is ordering. Happens in Mexican, Indian, Korean, Chinese etc.

Yao's dishes are kind of like a typical Rocket's season. They leave you very hungry once they are over.

Fung's kitchen is the real deal but you probably have to add some more chili oil

The Chinatown in DC is a fake tourist attraction.

I second Chinatown. I think Houston actually has 2 large separate chinese communities, not to mentioned Vietnamese and Korean.

I second the recommendation for Fung's kitchen.

You can also try the main Chinatown area, which is on Bellaire near Beltway 8 (aka Sam Houston tollway) on the west side of town. Almost too many places to recommend, and most of them I don't even know the name. I just know how to get there. However, one name I do remember is FuFu Cafe, which is just inside Beltway 8 on Bellaire.

If it hasn't been said already but try ' Chinese Cafe '. The best one is in the Diho center on Bellaire but there's also one near the Galleria on Richmond and Post Oak.
