Anybody know of any wine tasting courses/events in town scheduled for fall? I've been reading up on the subject, but need something further. I got a free guide called the Pocket Sommelier tasting guide. It helps, buy I could do with some instruction.

There are several Wine shops around town that offer tastings. One is on Memorial next to Rice Groceries at Beinhorn? offering Saturday afternoon tastings. Vinopolis on Westheimer in Carillion offers events and there is a great little shop on Kirby accross from the Randalls near Westheimer that offers tastings. Sorry I dont know many of the names.

Google "Wine dinners Houston" and you will get a number of hits which will tell of different events coming up (check the restaurant ones especially). These are fun evenings -- you get a great dinner, a good range of wine to sample, and usually there are winery reps. in attendance who will come by your table to tell you more about each wine you're drinking (and you get more than just a sample...)

Check on the websites of Wine Bucket, Tasting Room, the new Block 7, Central Market, et al. There are so many places, just need to look up some names!
