Speech Delay and ppcd in Cy-Fair (Early: insurance, home, school district)

My son was born at 25wks gestation and only weighed 1lb 4oz. He only had a 5% survival and at 5 days old became very ill and doctors said he wouldn't make it through the night and suggested I discontinue treatment and let him pass....I refused and he made it! He spent 5 months in the NICU at TCH. He received a tracheostomy at 4 months old. He is perfectly normal. He only had a developmental delay...but cognitive wise is fine. He is not paraplegic or blind, like I was told he might be. But since he had a tracheostomy until 2 years old, he now has a severe speech delay. It has only been 2 months since his tracheostomy was removed and has learned to say 'mama' and 'papa'. I am looking into placing him in the ppcd at Cy-Fair ISD....I would like to know, first which schools in cyfair provide ppcd...and 2nd, would like feedback on other's experience with cyfair ppcd. Thank you.

My son has speech delay maybe not as bad as your son but with anything if you have medical insurance and medicare you really should look into Private Speech therapist where he can get one-on-one help, really. The Cyfair gives it too, you just need to contact the Cyfair School district and they will test him and it is free and they will send him to an elementary school close to your home but this should be just a side class for him because the therapist has to deal with more than one students. I have my son going to TEAM APPROACH private therapist and the therapist there are really good. I don't care for the only owner. I hope this help you.

how old is your son? for less than 3 yrs old, he qualifies for Early Intervention (ECI) program. PPCD is for 3 yrs and up.

As far as i know, speech delay "only" wont qualify for PPCD.
