It's going on everywhere lately. The economy is really starting to take it's toll.

I guess we've been lucky. I haven't heard of any in our neighborhood.

Makes sense to me. If I'm a burglar, do I try to steal in Bellaire which has its own police department and I might get shot or do I steal in Meyerland, which is a part of Houston and is surrounded by neighborhoods plagued with issues that constantly tie up HPD.

Its been going on in neighboring Willowbend/Willow Meadows as well. Not to the extent it seems to be happening in Westbury, but there have definitely been enough break-ins to see a pattern.

A young couple that I met not long ago had a break-in shortly after they moved into the neighborhood. They had workmen from DirecTV in the house and a tech-ie over to calibrate their TV. The next day all of it was gone. Someone had kicked in the door to the back of the garage and gained entry to the house that way.

Our nanny was approached at the bus stop by some guy who was asking where she worked and if they had any jewelry. I took the next day off and kept the shotgun handy, but no dice.

There was a burglary a few days ago on Greenwillow and two or three more since June 1 in the southern portions of the neighborhood.

The robbery that occurred in Greenwillow occurred about 5-6 houses down. Has the wife a little nervous. Luckily our neighbors are teachers, my wife is a teacher and a couple other neighbors work from home. It is the first time I am hearing of this.
