My sister's house is Royce builder, which is built in 1995. It was good but quality and $ is related. Their house is expensive at that time. Roof is good at least can make 20 years+

Royce Homes is just like any other production builder, the quality depends on the construction manager overseeing the home. i should know

the homes were destroyed by hurricane Ike. this is how well we found outhow well the homes were built. the roof wasnot attached well. completely came off. the taxes are so high they match the home mortgage payment. the lot"s next door to some of the homes are undeveloped. ** Mod cut off topic **. most of the homes are in forclosurer. the new subdivison is destroying the view with barn garages!

My wife and I are in escrow buying a Royce home that was built in Pearland, TX in 1998. I know the roof was replaced after Ike. Is there anything else I should check into before closing on this place? Thanks for the help, ya'll.

Royce did not have a great reputation for quality. They were probably just average quality for entry level homes in Houston. As noted above, the quality will vary quite a bit depending upon the specific people who worked on that house. At this point, I would recommend getting a really detailed inspection.
