'Anyone else in Katy notice how busy the heliport is? Does anyone know if they have a trauma center there? I don't ever recall that many helicopters at the site of the old hospital on Pin Oak. I see a helicopter there at least once a week, and I'm sure they don't all come out when I am passing by.

I'm not complaining, I'm glad such a service/facility exists in Katy; there are many farming accidents, and many small communities withing a 150 miles that use the hospital.

That's Memorial Hermann Life Flight. The new Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital was built with a helipad to transport the most critical cases to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center. It's a Level I trauma center, whereas Katy is a Level III. In fact, Houston only has 2 Level I trauma facilities. Other Life Flight helipads at Memorial Hermann Hospitals include Memorial City, Sugar Land, Northeast, Southeast, Southwest and The Woodlands.

The Katy paper had an article about this a few months back...Memorial Hermann is staging the Chopper at their outlying hospitals on 2 week rotations. It puts them closer to the "action" and they fly back into the Med center with the patients. The outlying hospitals are just staging areas until a call comes in.
