I need to have 5 trees removed (3 big pines and 2 smaller trees) from my yard before I start redoing my back porch and driveway (including stump grinding).

Anyone has any recommendation.

I had one quote so far for $2K from a guy (one of the Davys trees / Centerpoint contractors, that works with his brother on the side) with no stum grinding and no insurance. The no insurance part has me. I don't want these guys to get hurt, and then sue me as a property owner.

I've been happy with a company named Trees For Less. Each year I have had them do work they have had the same crew and have separate climbers & ground crew. The consistent crew tells me they do business right. I also found their prices to be in the right ballpark in cases I've received bids from other tree service companies.

This was on the SouthEast side (Pasadena/Clear Lake). Don't think these guys work on the west side though.

It's Deer Park Arbor Specialist at (281) 479-0224, ask for Mark or Mark Jr. These guys take care of all the trees on my block pretty much and are great to work with. If they don't come out to your area, maybe they can recommend someone for you. They do all the pruning on my trees and I'm happy to say I only lost a few small limbs (less than 1 inch dia.) during Ike, same for the neighbors whose trees they have pruned.

I had Mark cut 6 trees in my yard last Friday. I am happy with the results and the price was lower than other quotes. They ground down the stumps and cleaned up really well - all in one day.
