Apparently this is happening in March. I assume it's going to shift more eastward, cutting off houses west of Wilcrest. Does anyone have the scoop on this?

To my knowledge the current zoning has been in place over 30 years.

Kirkwood. I know Memorial MS is pretty over crowed right now, and with the economy I'm sure it's anticipating a large enrollment. Kids moving over from private.

Strange that the registrar at MMS said she couldn't talk about it until March and the main district is denying any knowledge.

Maybe the meeting is in March, so they can't confirm rezoning until then.

I hadn't heard this, but we asked SBISD this same question when we were house shopping in Wilchester in 2007. They said there were no plans to change, but I doubt whoever we got in touch with would know anything. There will be some very vocal opponents if this is true.

Yes, in the casual conversation I had with someone in the MMS office, she said they were "opening a can of worms" if they did this.

Hard to find the enrollement numbers for MMS, Spring Branch and Spring Forest. I think MMS hasn't highest enrollment of the three. We could probably guess which way the zones are shifting from those numbers.

Yes, I saw those. But I think those numbers are from 2006-2007. I understand enrollment has serged in the past two years.

I was thinking that SBISD is expanding MMS under the bond plan. I know they have a notice for a variance request in front of the school right now. Not sure if that has to do with the expansion or not. Hmm. Interesting.

The variance request is about two streets that dead end off Beningus. The city wants SBISD to either put cul-de-sacs in or make them go through the fields to Attingham. SBISD is trying to avoid doing either.

Eventually, Spring Branch will have no choice but to open a can of worms with its rezoning. And with the way the economy is, districts have the upper hand. It's probably a better idea to concentrate on improving Spring Oaks, Landrum etc as opposed to worrying about impending boundary changes.
