Hi all, we have arrived in your great city and I am wondering about what your favorite things to do are. I'm looking for activities suitable for a 3 and 1 and a half year old. We are living off Westheimer (temporarily) and so things close by would be great but I'm not opposed to driving further distances. I'm aware of things like the zoo, museum, etc., I want to hear about the less known activites, great playgrounds, splash parks, whatever you all think is fun. It can be stuff that's free or not, I just need ideas! Thanks so much.

Lots of young children hang out at the Briargrove Elem. playground during after school hours. Spark Park at TH Rodgers is great, but not as popular as Briargrove.

You can go to the Police Stables on N. Post Oak and feed carrots and pet the horses for free.

Quinlin or Quillian Center on Richmond and the Beltway has a very nice water/spalsh park for young children. There's a fee.

Tumbling classes for Toddlers at the YMCA on Augusta.

Feed the ducks at the Williams Tower waterwall area. Go on the weekday mornings. Weekends it's often a Pit Bull show off time.

Take a drive out to the Clear Lake area and visit Armand Bayou Nature Center - they have day and evening nature activities geared around kids -- a really cool thing. Home : Armand Bayou Nature Center

This ice sculpting competition downtown on Saturday looks like FUN. Houston's First Annual Magnificent Seven All Out Ice Sculpting - Discovery Green Conservancy (http://www.discoverygreen.com/icecarvingevent/ - broken link) And it's free!

You can check http://gocitykids.parentsconnect.com...houston-tx-usa and http://www.artshound.com/event/cat/kids_families for more ideas.

The ZOO! It's a great time of year to go. I'd hit the Children's Museum too, and all the stuff everyone else has said!

Ride the train at Hermann park then feed the ducks or visit the splash park.
Discovery Green.
Memorial City has a "cupcake playground" good for a bad weather day.
