Rent. Cheaply. Save up some money.

Under $100K you get what you pay for, and you can't really choose where you live.

Sometimes you might be surprised by what you can get for slightly under 100K

I mean that generally, but what's the difference between $90K and $100K?

You can actually get a decent house in Texas City for well under $100K. Of course, then you're living in Texas City. Elsewhere, like further up 45 toward Clear Lake, a lot of the subdivisions I see "Starting at (something close to $100K)" look like rather cheap construction to me, like something that'll start falling apart five years later. That's just seeing from the outside though...

Thanks TG

That does look like a nice area and I could concentrate business in the NW area. It's being sold as a "short sale". I've never heard of that expression before. ??? I did notice that the tax for that house is pricey, however the maintenance fee isn't too bad.

Maybe not, but when someone titles a thread "outer east side" usually people recommend something closeby, not something on the opposite edge of town. All of us may as well recommend every cheap neighborhood in the 10,000-ish square mile metro and derail this thread even farther. Sound good?

Do you own that house on Manor Point by any chance?

Means the person is trying to sell the house before having to hand over the keys to the bank while keeping their credit forcloserless. In other words they're going to do what it takes to sell it ASAP for the most part.

Um.. if you read my posts you see that I'm in Los Angeles and looking to move to Houston.. not selling any home.. The OP seems very interested in the area that I reccomended so I'm sorry but I'm totally not seeing the point in attacking me?? That neighborhood is the one I grew up in and thus about the only one I can fully reccomend and have alot of experience with. Not to mention about the only neighborhood with a high level of safety and feeling of community where he could possibly find something in that price range. I did a search on HAR for houses in that zip for under 100k and that is what came up. I identify with the poster, and I think I know what he's looking for. He wants something cheap in a nice area, somewhere in Houston. Tried to help, and the OP is interested in that help, so.................. Moderator cut: personal attacks not allowed
