We moved to Houston at the last minute so I currently attend U of H. I am contemplating a transfer to either UT or A&M. We don't want to move as we hope to move again once I graduate, so I want to know if anyone had commuted to either school for an extended period of time.

For example has anyone take Tuesday and Thursday classes and labs on Wednesday and stayed on campus Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Or driven there and back 2 to 3 days a week if not more.

It took us about an hour and 20 minutes to drive to A&M, but Austin is almost a 3 hour drive.

If anyone has any input please share.

A&M would be a shorter commute IMO.

Yes A & M is a shorter drive.

My concern is which school would look best on resumes after I have completed my education. Would I have an easier time with acceptance to med school if I chose matriculated from A&M or UT over U of H. And even after my residency would I spend less time searching for a position if we choose to remain in Texas if I have a degree from the other institutions.

Which school has the strongest Alumni.

UT > A&M > UH imo but I'm a longhorn so probably biased. The commute to A&M would be doable if you NWish in Houston. Austin would really be a stretch. I actually lived in College Station and commuted to T/Thu classes at UT for a year but that's another story.

One of my co-workers just got his masters from UT on weekends. Not sure if he went to Austin or if there is a masters program somewhere here - not sure of all the details. He has taken an overseas assignment so I have lost touch with him temporarily.

What are you looking to take? Undergrad classes?

I was thinking about this too... but you can't really take many classes when you only go on two days. Then you also need to work etc. I would not do it. A&M..maybe if I lived somewhere in the north of Houston.

I always take all of my classes on two days and my lab(s) on the third. One semester i actually took all of my classes and labs on two days. Some of my classes are offered online so I could easily take 4 on sight classes, 1 online class and a lab on Wednesday.

I don't have to study much and I don't work so the schedule is ideal for me. I a free to spend time with my family and if we go out of town I have a four day weekend.
