Where is the best place to get red velvet cake in the Houston area? I want to get one as a Christmas present for my aunt and uncle but I have no idea if one bakery is better than another. I'd greatly appreciate any input!

Now that is a cake I rarely see! I am pretty sure that House of Pies sells them, but it has been a while since I was there last.

Empire Cafe has a Red Velvet Cake, I think...call them to make sure but I think I remember seeing that on the menu and their cakes are WONDERFUL.

okay.....it is not a cake, but Crave has the best Red Velvet cupcakes I have ever tasted in my life. They are better than cake, IMO. No slicing or crumby cake plates.

I love French Gourmet. But you have to get there by noon or they are wiped out of everything.

It is a bit unusual, but my aunt and uncle were watching the food network one day and commenting about how good the red velvet cake looked and I decided that's what I wanted to get them before they drive out to California to spend Christmas with their daughter. Sure looks amazing! Thanks for all the replies so far! I looked up both the Dessert Gallery and French Gourmet. French Gourmet is almost $20 cheaper so I'm thinking of going with them.
