If this house isn't inside the city limits of Katy and is in rural Fort Bend County, then there are no building codes. None. You could build a shack out of tin and move into it in the county, outside of city limits.

Called Katy city office. They did say Cinco Ranch is not in Katy City and let me call Fortbend County or Harris County's office. Nobody answered phone yet.

For those who bought or built a new house in Cinco Ranch, do you all have high wind strapping on attic framing?

Called Fortbend County Engineering Department and was told it's not required to put high wind strapping in Cinco Ranch. Most houses don't have it in this area.

Interesting, I'm building in Sugar Land and my builder has it in the homes they're constructing. I didn't know the requirements are THAT different for being only ~20 miles apart.
