Klein, Tomball, & Cypess are all fine communities in close proximity to Champions Forest.

As nice & beautiful as some of the older neighborhoods & homes are around the 1960-Champions Forest I would still be concerned with the high crime rate that has plagued the area in recent years especially after Katrina.

If you work there, Champions Forest is a great area (IMO). I'd need to see hard evidence of the crime you speak of. A friend of mine rented in a moderate priced apartment over there right on 1960 and it was fine. The main problem is living there an expecting to commute anywhere else. It takes forever just to get out of there.

The "high crime rate" is centered around pockets of 1960. The actual Champion Forest Drive neighborhoods North of 1960 are great, especially as you get closer to Louetta.

As for a master planned community, there is Gleanloch Farms and Windrose close by, but there are tons of nice neighborhoods all over the area: Champions, Champions Park (North), Champion Forest, Memorial Northwest, The Falls, Sterling Gate, Champion Woods, Memorial Northwest, SPring Creek Oaks/Forest, the Vintage, etc. There are a lot of nice neighborhoods in all spectrums of prices in the area. IN the 250K-300K range, there will be a large selection, everything from brand new upper end tract homes to 10-20 year old custom homes, and everything in between.

He'll want to stay in the Klein or Cy-Fair school districts, both are great as long as you avoid neighborhoods that feed Klein Forest High (lower rated school). All the rest of the Klein schools are top notch as well as the Cy-Fair schools that Champions and Champions Park feed.

Try 77379 on www.har.com as well as the Northern sections of 77060.
