Is Woodlands only a residential area or are there jobs (big companies, law firms, etc.)?

Default Not a bunch of jobs

You wont find tons of jobs in The Woodlands. Some corporations do have offices up there, but not that many. Law firms not really or very small ones. I tried to find a job up there and I realized that if you find a job up there, usually the salary is less than if you go downtown or anywhere else in the city. That's why so many people commute, I do.

I found that it is extremely difficult to get a job out in The Woodlands that pays well. I tried a few staffing agencies and they were terrible, and I commute to Houston. I keep holding out hope for a job closer to home though.

My GF has been looking in "The Woodlands" area for a job since August. She had a temp job for about 2 months then got laid off the Friday after Thanksgiving.

There are many corporations in and around The Woodlands.

Here's a list of companies whose headquarters or branch offices are in The Woodlands:

http://www.thewoodlands.com/woodland...sinessList.pdf

You'll see companies like Anadarko, Chicago Bridge & Iron, Lexicon Pharmaceuticals, Chevron Phillips, Lyondell Chemical, Shell Oil, St. Lukes, MD Anderson, Maersk Sealand...the list goes on and on!

BTW, 40% of Woodlands residents also work in The Woodlands.

Not impressed with the short list and the braches of the list of companies. It's too far of a commute to downtown Houston with 30 miles away. If it was 20 miles would have made a huge difference such as some southern Spring areas.

Not impressed?!? You're kidding, right? It's a town of 55,000 people--what exactly were you expecting?

There's a job listing area here for The Woodlands: The Woodlands Jobs - The Woodlands, TX
I know this thread was started back in 2007, but today at least there are a ton of jobs in The Woodlands -- nearly 50,000 jobs for a town with a population of 90,000+!
