Cy-Fair wins second-highest rating by TEA | Cy-Fair News | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle (broken link)

Cy-Fair reclaims its status as the largest Recognized school district in the State.

Cypress-Fairbanks may be winning praise for students' high test scores, but they're getting an "unacceptable" for secret-keeping ability.

Default Good news

Along with that information I would also add that Friendswood ISD is now rated Exemplary in all all schools in Friendswood ISD.One of the best school systems in the state.

Friendswood has a pretty nice situation there. They've got their own city, they're own school district. Nice setup.

Hats off to Cy-Fair for what its worth. Hard to pull off such a feat with a district that is as large and that is changing as fast as Cy-Fair.

One thing I find fascinating about the stats in the ratings is the fundamental shift that is taking place in Cy-Fair socioeconomically and demographically. For instance, I compared the % of economically disadvantaged students at each high school from 2002-2008. All the schools had significant increases in the number of kids eligible for free and reduced lunches.

Langham Creek - +52% to 27%
Cy-Falls - +43% to 30%
Jersey Village - +30% to 30%
Cy-Creek - +20% to 50%
Cy-Springs - +56% to 43%
Cy-Fair - +60% to 15%
Cy-Ridge - +25% to 40% (from 2004)

These are significant changes in a really short period of time. Do ya'll think this is just a function of society and the way things are going everywhere? Parts of Cy-Fair have a very high median income but the stats above would lead me to beleive that most of it does not and that if this continues, it will be hard to maintain the Recognized status.
