Anyone had any experiences with this daycare? I'm considering placing my child here in the fall.

Thumbs down Please read this!!!

I would consider a different facility. I have had a very poor experience with #44 on Pearland Parkway. The assistant director and front office staff treat the caregivers very poorly. The cargivers are unable to contact you if there is a problem with your son/daughter directly but rather have to go through through these two front desk ladies who then determine if notification is necessary. I have personally observed them speaking in a very cold and dismissive manner to the careproviders, treating them as though they are not unequals. It was disturbing because I put a great deal of thought and consideration into choosing a facility. There is also great disparity in how the parents are greeted and treated based on race. The program at kids are kids is great, but my suggestion would be a different location. I wonder if they realize how these two ladies running the front desk are affecting thier business and reputatuon? I have spoken with other parents and they are just as dissatisfied with them.

Thanks for the info on the Pearland Parkway location, however I was wondering if anyone had any info on the Shadow Creek Ranch location or the Silverlake location.

We've just moved back to Houston and are putting our two in daycare for the first time. I found this website, Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, and as far as I am concerned, this website is the closest to the truth that we have gotten. No room for opinions or bias....just the facts.

Go to Texas Department of Family and Protective Services and under the DFPS Programs tab(top left corner), choose Child Care licensing, then choose Search Texas Child Care, then select Search for Child-Care Center or Home.

Hope this helps! This site has certainly helped me weed out a few.

Just a quick review and I found one of my MAJOR red flags:

Kids R Kids #44 TX

Quote:
One caregiver in the 2 1/2 - 3 year old classroom does not have a current Background Check submitted. Follow Up 10/1/07: The background check has not been submitted on this caregiver. The caregiver was present during the inspection. I observed another caregiver present during the inspection with out a current background check completed. Note* This was corrected during inspection by submitting background checks online. I have not observed confirmation for the completed background checks.
This information is public and is what I consider a parent entitlement

We're sort of torn between the daycare he used to go to (discovery years) and the new Kids R Kids that was built about a half-mile up the road......have you heard anything about discovery years, perchance?

I know it's off topic, but the main point is to see if you have updated links for that child licensing link. Sounds rather informative.

thanks,

The link posted in Anuday's post above has been corrected and verified that it does, indeed work and connect you to the correct site as stated.

One of my coworkers has her kids at the location in south Shadow Creek Ranch (on Hwy 518). She is happy with it.

yeah, montissori is a bit out of our price range.

We're at a minor crossroads, kids r kids vs discovery years. It's my understanding that kids r kids is a bigger operation, and I think that the discovery years is either franchised or a sole location. That having been said, he was there for a year or so, and he enjoyed it, and we had no issues with it. We'll see.

thanks,

r

Why is it so hard to find reviews on child care facilities? Yet, when you actually talk to other parents all these horror stories unfold. People should post more reviews on schools/child care facilities (good or bad). This would help other parents be aware of the type of quality the child care facility is capable of.
