Has anyone actually done it? Not heard from a friend who heard from a friend whose brother in law did it.

I know first thing a court wants to see is a reasonable attempt to work it out beforehand. So this would mean writing a formal Letter of Demand. If you have written one, to whom exactly did you address it?

For filing the legal complaint, what specific name and address did you list for Comcast? Where can I look up the corporate "registered agent" in Texas for Comcast?

Assumed names for Harris county is here:
Object Name: an_inquiry HTML Form Template

Is Comcast based in Harris county? You may have to do some research. If the county you're looking for doesn't have a website, a phone call will work.

Comcast is a corporation which is registered at the state level. Corporations must maintain a "registered agent" name and address on file with the state. I have a request in to the Secretary of State but was hoping that someone may have already been through this. Trust me, I'm doing some research.

I found this Comcast handbook that states "Comcast uses CT Corporation (866-401-8252) as a registered agent to support the submission of legal requests." They also list their "Service of Process" fax as (720) 267-2794. But I want to be sure I'm doing it right because Comcast will surely recognize and ignore any notice served incorrectly.

I've seen lots of people yap about taking Comcast to court. Has anyone here actually done it?

sad to learn, but I went to comcastmustdie.com and complained- my complaint ended up prompting a call within a week! Sad that they have to read a complaint list- they would do better to just provide good customer service.

FWIW, in my own small claims case, I had to serve the agent of a landlord, which was the property management company. The name of the person I used was the agent for the property management company. Therefore you probably need to find out who the agent for CT Corp is. Sounds like you're doing that. You may wind up going through a chain of companies before you wind up with a named person.

I eventually had to serve the agent through the Secretary of State and got (bought) the certificate w/seal. The agent went into hiding when the papers were delivered the first time, and kept dodging the constable so I had to resort to the SoS. Since I won my case, the fees were reimbursed through 'court cost' clauses listed in the various statutes I was referring to. it was about an extra $50-60.

Thanks, that link looks promising although a search of Comcast returned a dozen variations of Comcast Cable. This one looks most promising though:

I mean, make that dozens of results. Maybe it's the Comcast of Houston, but same Registered Agent. Or is that Comcast of Texas LLC? Jeez, has anyone checked that list? How the heck are you supposed to know the "official" name of the company when they have 30 or 40 different variations and all they say on your bills is Comcast?

Hire a law firm to do it for you.

The dispute is over $260. The whole point of small claims court is supposed to be that you don't need to involve a lawyer.

I'm not looking for advice on how to handle the matter. I'm asking for specific info from someone who has ACTUALLY DONE IT with regards to taking Comcast to small claims. I'd like to know such things like if Comcast even bothered to show up in court. Or if a judgment was awarded did Comcast promptly pay it or did they delay or appeal it out of small claims jurisdiction.
