What's your point? Without tolls, those roads would not exist. The agencies that run them do not try to stop public transport projects.

TBH even if they built the most logical commuter rails (one that ran alongside I-10 when they expanded that road 20 years ago or so, then most likely one that use the rail line that runs in the median of Hardy Toll Road) you're still talking a long ride. And you're not going to see mass transit along, let say, Beltway 8.

Katy and Sugar Land (where I used to live) are just far from either airports.

There will never be commuter rail in the middle of the Hardy Toll Road. The freight lines that own those rails will not give up any space for passenger rail.

Given that this bus used the HOV lanes and dropped off right at the terminal, I'd call it a pretty good field trial showing the (lack of) viability of a rail line from downtown to IAH.

Direct bus service from a far suburb to IAH makes even less sense...by the time you've packed up your car, driven a good distance to the nearest park and ride, schlepped your luggage from the car onto the bus...why not just drive to the airport directly? (or take an Uber or Supershuttle)

I'd suggest just getting an early start and driving or Ubering, depending on the length of your trip. If you fly out of IAH regularly and are comparing Houston suburbs, start your search in The Woodlands or Kingwood.
yeah.. you are right. Its just a hassle to ride to airport in either case (car or bus). I think new airport is needed near Fulshear or Sealy or Wallis area!!

There's a tremendous amount of vacant land west of 99, which would be ideal for an airport at least as large as Hobby. It's so obvious that there must be some logistics reasons why it hasn't happened.

A third airport still seems like a bit much at this time. I think people on the far west side are just going to have to continue dealing with the awful commute to IAH- a side effect of Houston’s awful urban sprawl.

I'm really not sure how many people are really affected by not having an airport near them. The only way I'd care is if I were traveling weekly or something. And if I were traveling that often, I'd just Uber or live near an airport. And I'm not sure most people want to live near an airport unless they worked there. Then again, I guess there are lots of people living around Irving, Tx up in the DFW area that are in the flightpath of planes that don't mind, so who knows.

It's more the choices people make on where to live.

There was a big push in the 1980s and early 1990s for a westside airport. It received serious policy consideration by local governments but was eventually abandoned.

If you choose to live in Fulshear or Rosenberg, this is just something you'll have to live with. I don't think it has much impact on residential market appeal, though for employers it may matter more, at least for those who have higher-level folks that have to travel a bunch.
