Where will you be working? In the cases of Katy and Richmond, the cities themselves are tiny, but the areas that have those mailing addresses are huge. Missouri City goes all the way out to the Fort Bend Tollway, Katy area as far north as Clay Rd. and the Grand Parkway, Fulshear even farther out than the GP (and I don't know if they have apartments out there yet), and Richmond all the way down to 59 and 762.

I don't think you'll find studio apartments in any of those areas (except perhaps older parts of Stafford or Missouri City).

Most apartments in the Houston area seem to have standard one-year lease terms. You likely won't find six-months or month-to-month, with the possible exception of corporate rentals.

Is newness of complex a requirement? In all those areas, you will probably find some complexes that are at least 35 years old. And there are areas within these areas that are (or at least are perceived as) safer than others.

I can't speak to prices or "bang for your buck" because I haven't lived in an apartment in almost 10 years.

I work from home. I am a 44 years old single male, no kids/no pets. I don’t need the apartment any soon. It’s just for the future to see what responses we get. Any contract length is fine as long as I get a low rate. They can’t be a rundown/dirty/loaded with pest dwellings.

Currently, where I live they were built in 1996 but well kept.

What about ALIEF?
If you can read Chinese, some of these Asian supermarket bulletins have postings - room for rent, internet ready, kitchen privilege.
There is also a motel/hotel on Bellaire across from Welcome Shopping Center which has weekly and monthly rate.
Also motels on Highway 6 has room -weekly and monthly rate with kitchen
