Pineloch will be the nicest area of the 3 you listed, but those apartments are rather cheap.

This is also nice (and nearly brand new):
Seven Palms Apartments Webster, TX - Apartments for Rent in Webster Texas (broken link)

Rule of thumb: for a 1/1, $700 will set you up decent out here. $800ish is better. Anymore than $900 is excessive IMO. You may want to SERIOUSLY consider upping your budget. Clear Lake is nice but like any place around Houston, we have our share of riff-raff. I did apartment life inside the loop and have only done house life out here in Clear Lake, so I can only suggest a budget to stick with.

Coming from Oregon the prices you say seem really high. We currently live in a nicer end 2 bedroom/ 1 bath and are paying under $700, with utilities included. For some reason I expected TX to be cheaper? I don't know... Haha.

The big cities are more expensive than the rest of the state, and are on-par with the national average. Oregon doesn't have a metro area with 5.5-6 million people, either.

Check this: if you were inside the loop or where the young folks consider trendy, you could be spending $1,000/mo easy on a 1 bdrm. Some upscale areas over there are $2,000+/mo. But you're in a suburb, and a somewhat desirable, coastal-area, city-limit suburb as well. $700-800 is pretty reasonable for a 1/1 in all honestly. Now when I was in College Station I was living in a 2/1.5 (with a roommate) for $600/mo and the prices are still the same, 6-7 years later. This would be pretty standard for a college town or a country area wayy outside of the city limits.

[quote=sarahbeth827;3568496]We are looking at spending no more than $600 on an apartment.

Thank you!

I don't think I would recommend/want to live in any area of Houston where you could find an apt for 600 bucks...

Ok. So I have done a little bit more looking around and have found some more apartments. Please let me know how these areas are:

Crystal falls apartments (Westbrae parkway)
Hidden lake apartments (Henderson Ave., League city)
West lodge apartments (Baxter rd., Baytown)

As for the West lodge apartments located in Baytown. How is traffic crossing the bridge? My husband wound be driving to Ellington field daily.

Baytown is a stinky refinery town about 30 mins from Clear Lake in light traffic. The toll road from I-10 to I-45 is about $5.50 round trip.

League City is about 20 mins and may be a little better, but traffic in Webster is bad right now due to some construction.
