My employer, a mid-sized oil and gas upstream company, currently does not have an office wide policy allowing employees to work from home but instead leaves that to the discretion of managers. Some employers like AIG and some of the city government on the other hand is asking employees to work from home indefinitely until told otherwise. What else have you all heard? With the CDC asking all gatherings of 50 people or more to be stopped it is unconscionable for large employers to require employees to work on site IMHO.

Chevron is next two weeks work from home and likely to be extended, except essential personnel. Don't work for them but deal with them extensively.

My employer, a large o&g company, does not offer remote work options and they do not encourage it (VERY traditional and old school). They are open for business as usual but are allowing some flexibility to adjust to personal situations. While they have offered the option to work remotely right now, your manager has to approve that you are able to effectively work from home before you can do it. This all coming from a company who always talks about SAFETY being the company's #1 priority.

My husbands employer, a large e&p upstream company, doesn't typically offer remote work options. They have shut down the office for the next 1-2 weeks and are making everyone work from home.

My husband’s employer, also O&G, has told everyone to work from home- not sure of how long. He is currently doing a web ex meeting from our guest bedroom.

I work for one of the supermajors (upstream) and we are required to work from home until the end of the month. At that point, the company will reassess the situation and provide further directions. Apparently our counterparts in Europe have been told to expect WFH conditions for up to 3-4 months, so I'm mentally preparing myself for a much longer than expected quarantine period.

For those of you that are falling for the scare tactic of "the government is going to order a mandatory quarantine",,,,or the potus is,,you need to read this,,,,the Federal government nor the potus has the power to do so,,,--"the average American may be surprised to learn who holds the authority to order such public-health measures. Except at the nation’s borders, the federal government, with the expertise of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is not in charge. America’s defense against epidemics is divided among 2,684 state, local, and tribal public-health departments. Each one is responsible for monitoring people within its jurisdiction, imposing isolation or quarantine as needed. CDC officials are “preparing as if [the new coronavirus] is the next pandemic,” but in reality, the laboring oar falls to state and local health departments.",,,, ,,so if you start hearing about a quarantine in your area,,just remember it is your local government doing that to you,,so raise hell with them,,tell them no,,,

If the situation move along at the same pace as Italy I would contact the authorities and ASK THEM to institute a quarantine.
