hmm Personally I think traffic will get lighter with gas prices going up. Living in the suburbs will be a survival of the fittest suburbian.

SbHubbell - for private schools you may also want to check out Second Baptist School Second Baptist School . It has all grade levels and a great reputation as well. It is located just east of the Memorial Villages, near Tanglewood/Galleria area.

I'll believe that when I see it! Haven't see it yet here in Houston.

I would recommend living in the city if your price range is $350. Briargrove Park may have some in that range still. Very quaint neighborhood with gas lamps. Beautiful houses. Spring Branch area at i-10 & gessner is affordable and closer in...much nicer commute. The commute gets really old if you live in the suburbs and your house value suffers more because everyone is moving back in the city right now.

Or if you don't really want a baptist school then there are many other great private schools...not sure what age range but the best schools are St. Johns, St. Agnes, St. Michaels, Awty International, The Village School.

I believe that the OP is happily settled in Cinco Ranch in Katy now.

I've met quite a few Philly transplants in the past couple of years. Weird.
