Hello there... I am going to be a first time home buyer in the upcoming months and I can't decide what area suits me. I am going to be working in Midtown so basically in downtown. I liked Humble at first because of the commute time, but I was reading up on it and it seems as though the crime rate is a little higher than most places, for those who live there is this a concern? Is Atascocita a better choice? With a budget of up to about 150k what would you guys reccomend? I'm pretty sure Pearland is too expensive and I don't even want to deal with 290 or I-10 traffic. What do you think? I just want to be safe and make a good investment. Any input is greatly appreciated!!

Condos, look around Medical Center.

House, look around Sugar Land.

Well, how many rooms do you need? Do you have a family or just yourself? What's your ethnic background? Do you prefer diversity or no?

I live in Atascocita. It's great and not too far from downtown. Really just depends on on what you consider too far of a commute?

If you don't have kids, live in Midtown.

Most folks look down on the east side, but have you ever considered Deer Park? I know I didn't at first. The commute to the Med Center using 225 and 610 is not really bad at all and nice houses can be found in your price range. Also a very safe neighborhood.

That is so true, when I was house hunting I never really considered the east side.

I bought in the Sugarland/Stafford area. Love it and the commute is only 30 minutes on most days, I too work in downtown.

When I go to my alternate office in the Galleria area, it takes about 30 minutes on average.
