Planning to move to the Kingwood area. Will be working in Kingwood medical as well as Hermann Northeast. Need to be a 15-20 min driving distance due to on-call requirements. Have kids(elementary), any recs for areas/new communities/developments? Looking for houses in 350-500k range.
Thanks in advance.

With that price range, you'll be in good shape.

Use HAR.com to do your searches.

Several people here know which sections correspond with the better schools, and I'm sure they will be here soon.

Welcome to NE Houston!

All the Kingwood schools are good, be careful of some neighborhoods who advertise themselves as Kingwood but are actually in Porter and New Caney Isd, Kingwood is Humble ISD. Schools in the back towards lake considered "better" but that's a farther drive.

Also, for more focused/specific info, try posting to www.kingwood.com/message_board/
It's a pretty active board and usually provides prompt responses. There's similar forums for Humble and Atascocita.

Most of Kingwood was built in the 80s. The two neighborhoods I can think of with new construction are out of your price range. If you must have a new house best to look down in Humble.

They may be all built out now. One is called Barrington and the other Royal Shores.

I see one house in your price range in Barrington built 2015: 1307 Buckingham Way, KINGWOOD, TX 77339 - HAR.com

Royal Shores from 2009: 5914 Royal Hill Ct, Houston, TX 77345 - HAR.com

Looks like 1 lot listed on har in Royal Shores for 140k: http://www.har.com/6018-majestic-pines-dr/sale_67857344

In that price range, I'd be looking in the Royal Brook community in Kingwood, or The Groves or Bridges over Lake Houston communities in Atascocita. Eagle Springs in Atascocita is also a great community with very good schools.
