Hi, I am planning to relocate to Houston and am considering buying a condo in the One Ashford Place Condo Complex along Whittington Dr, 77077. It seems that condo prices there are very affordable.

1. I would like to ask if this area is safe. I mean I won't have to worry about things like walking around (as a form of exercise) before it gets dark and my locked car parked there being safe, etc. Please give me some advice if you are familiar with that area.

2. I was given the advice of getting into London Townhomes in 77079. At present, there are no units there for sale. There are only units for rent. How does living in the London Townhomes complex compare with living in the One Ashford Place complex?

Thank you for your time and effort.

I had a client buy in there about 15 years ago and she is still there. Likes it and doesn't feel unsafe.

Had several buy in the London Townhomes. Huge, mature trees and spread-out grounds look and feel nicer. Not so apartmentish.

Didn't realize that London didn't have anything available. Try Memorial Ashford (just to the south of them) - a lot of the same floor plans.

These are very nice townhomes in Memorial Ashford. However, they are above my price range!

I would pick One Ashford Place over Lynbrook.

Good to know, cheryjohns! Thank you. I like the floor plan (what is for sale now) here better than those of Lynbrook as well.

I am wondering if there are similar complexes with a lot of retirees in the area. I am asking this question because I assume that with more retirees, the community will tend to be quiet. I am living in such a community right now. Thank you.

I hope you are able to visit before buying - Walk the area, get a feel for it - If people are outside and friendly, willing to chat, or everyone just gets out of their cars and you never see them. For me I like to see if there are a lot of dogs and barking because that's something on my list. Maybe not yours. I'd also ask which walls are shared between units and what you can do to minimize noise. And smells. Or maybe those things don't bother you.

Thank you for the information, Sollaces. These are good clues indeed. Yes, I will be able to visit the place before buying a unit. Noise and smells do bother me. However, if I am determined to live in a condo, I will have to be determined to tolerate all such issues.
