Hello,

Can anyone give me a ball park figure or estimate to replace wooden fence in Houston or surrounding area labor included. We are looking at around 110ft (just the back wall, no neighbor in back). Can't DIY so I was wondering what is a good estimate for this task? Not looking for cedar or expensive wood. Also, I heard that we need a permit? If we are replacing the planks on existing fence with new ones all the way do we still need to check for permits. Any advice would be appreciated. The fence on this property is leaning over a tree and its not upright.

Thanks

Do you mean linear foot? Otherwise that is one expensive fence.

The fence company pulled the permit. It was a replacement of existing. Most fence companies won't use existing posts. At least the ones that I called.

I got a quote recently for about 84 ft. But with cedar. Cheapest I got was $2000. This was for cedar pickets, 6" rot board, and then treated posts and rails (3 rails).

I ended up doing it myself for I think less than $1K and split it with my neighbor. It was my first time doing a fence, and I was surprised by how easy it was. And we didn't just cut the posts and dig new holes like most of these contractors will do. We pulled the old posts and put new in their place.
