My wife and I are planning a move to houston next year. The job that I will be working will be at the medical center downtown. We don't have any children but we want to be in a place that has good schools so that if things changed we wouldn't have to suddenly move. We obviously want a safe environment. We prefer the suburban lifestyle and want nearby malls and big box stores. Chain restaurants are fine by us. Commutes under an hour don't scare us. I will be working at 7:00am, will that beat most rush-hour traffic? What areas would be best in the 100-150k range? What about the 150-200k range? 200-250k? I know that's a broad range. Truth is we can't decide if we want to buy a cheap house now and later spend more or buy a nicer home now that we'll stay in forever. We've seen houses all over that we like.
