New to taking the buses in Houston and I was wondering if the park and ride buses have buttons to push to signal you want to get off like the city buses do. I have been taking route 56 into the Medical Center for work, but route 298 seems to be much more reliable. It always passes my stop on time. I am thinking about taking this route instead, but I've never seen a park and ride bus stop at a bus stop in the city, even if the stop is labeled for that bus. Is there a button to push, or do you just walk up to the driver and let them know you want to get off at the next stop? Tried googling this, but Houston's Metro website is lacking.

I've only used Park & Ride buses, so I'm not sure if the bus you are speaking of is a city route, but on the P&R buses, you press a button right above your seat (or on the older style, pull a yellow string along the window) when your stop is approaching. You will see the sign light up at the front of the bus that says "Stop Requested".

Oh so P&R buses do have the buttons? Ok, great! Thank you.

The Park & Rides aren't going to let you off in Montrose after departing from the Medical Center. The labeled northbound stops are for people to board, not alight. Plus, you'll pay a much higher fare to board a Park & Ride. Sorry, but if I'm interpreting your idea correctly, it won't work.
