I was flicking through the channels last week and came across a documentary on PBS called "Post Oak Boulevard: A Texas Legacy". Stuck it on the DVR and finally got around to watching it yesterday. As a fairly recent arrival I have very little knowledge of the history of Houston so this was a fascinating glimpse of how the area around Post Oak Boulevard grew from early settlement, through Italian farmers along an old dirt road, developing Tanglewood as "country homes" for the rich downtown folks and then on to the Galleria and present day. Recommended viewing if they happen to have repeat showings!

I wonder if they have plans for similar shows covering any other parts of town? Anyone know?

I'll have to see if it's On Demand or on the PBS website.

Couldn't find it to DVR, but Google gave me this:

I'll have to watch it later. Sounds interesting. Thanks for the share!

I caught part of it, was pretty interesting. In what I did see, there was no mention of the old cemetery a bit north of Post Oak, that dates back to the mid-1800s. From what I've read, most of the gravestones were stolen and many of the ones left were removed by local neighbors for safekeeping.
