On my street there are only two houses which fly the American Flags permanently. Sure there was an HOA issue before but the law has changed for at least 4 years now.

Unlike 10 years ago, you can easily find made in the USA flags at most big box stores.

At least do it for the 4th of July.

My son recently graduated from college and is starting his first full time job next week, but when he was younger his boy scout troop would go all around Sugar Land and offer residents the ability to buy a service that would provide them with USA flags outside of their house with a pole or mounted during the weeks around all patriotic holidays. Not sure if they are still doing it, but it was a great service.

If you're going to fly the flag permanently, make sure it is properly illuminated at night as per the US Flag Code. I see lots of houses where the flag is in darkness. There are actually lots of flag display details in that code, worth a read!

The Boy Scouts do offer the service of erecting flags in front yards on holidays in my neighborhood, but the uptake is pretty low.

We use our neighborhood Boy Scout's service, but not a whole lot of people use it, maybe 2-3 per block. $40 a year is a small price to pay to know two flags will be put out (and removed) on the proper days. One of our local realtors puts small flags at the end of every house's walkway, so I think most people take that as an excuse not to put their own full-size flag out.

It's sad, really. Not that I'm some big "go America" flag-booster, but how hard is it to show your support for your country a few times a year by putting out a flag? We spend all this time and energy buying local, made in America, blah blah blah, but can't bother getting on a ladder with a flag.

I don't see how putting out a flag 2 or 3 times a year makes you some sort of better supporter of your country. .

Hey at least be glad your street doesn't proudly fly mexican flags like they do here in the craptastic border town I'm currently stuck in.

Yes we're still doing it in the boy scouts. My son sold 60 subscriptions in Riverstone last year and now that is our flag route. We're having a blast doing it. Really proud of my son

We have a neighbor a block over who flies their British flag for their respective holidays. And next door to them, their neighbor flies a US flag each time the British one is out. LOL, awkward neighbor battles .

Is this a question, or an advertisement (for the US flag)?

I think I'll post a thread telling everyone to please wear purple tomorrow.
