I am looking at a job in the Medical Center 77025 but need good schools - PREFERABLY WITHIN A 1/2 HOUR COMMUTE. I realize that may be a tall order in Houston. Anyway, I read on another thread from years ago that ALT-90(?) was going to speed up commute times from Sugarland to the Medical Center dramatically. Is that the case? How long is that commute now?

Thanks.

Trulia has a very nice heat map for commute time. I don't know if this is real-time commute or a specific time of day but it should give you a decent idea.

Trulia Local - Visual analysis of local data

Thanks,

Google maps, put down time you will be driving.

They are very accurate.

It shouldn't be more than 30 minutes from heart of Sugar Land, depending on where in Medical Center.

US90 is better. If 59 isn't bad and you don't mind the toll, take 59 and the tollway and exit at 90 to get past Stafford.

As long as you do it in the middle of the night. You aren't getting from Sugar Land to the MedCenter in 30mins during rush hour.

I never go to TMC. I was basing my number on Sugar Land to South Loop, thats why I said depending on where in TMC. I do drive to south loop and get on US90 quite a bit. From Sugar Land core to south loop is always under 30 minutes for me. US90 never have traffic, you can drive 80 miles in the morning if you want.

One other feature you can use in Google Maps that I use often is "depart at" and "arrive by". That way even if you're searching commute time at 10PM on Saturday you can "simulate" as if it was 7AM on a weekday. Enter your origin and destination into the directions feature, then you should see the option in dark blue.

Here's the Google support page with more info.. click "Change your travel time" to see details: https://support.google.com/maps/answ...DDesktop&hl=en

Then you picked a point 5 miles and 15 minutes shy of TMC.
