Hello Everyone! I am planning on moving to Texas in 2018...*yes I know this is a long way but I am a planner*
I am currently living in Georgia and would like to know which city would be best for a single, late 20's Nigerian American female that works as a mid-level health provider. I prefer to live outside the city, like 20-30mins. I don't mind a commute. I am looking for area where I can meet young professionals, have social life, entertainment and diversity. Pus, I need an active dating life. I am going to visit Texas this August and wanted to narrow down the city and specific areas.. I was thinking about Sugar Land/Missouri City?

Any advice would be helpful.

Two thoughts:

1) You're in the health care field. Houston has the LARGEST medical community in the world, as part of the Texas Medical Center. You can't go wrong starting in Houston.

2) You mention you are Nigerian-American, and prefer diversity. Houston is one of the most diverse cities in the US, and tends to be very welcoming to all people. With little concern as to who or what you are. Dallas, on the other hand, is a much less welcoming city, and you won't be made to feel as warm there as you would in Houston.

As far as what area in Houston, that's another question. Houston is huge, and has dozens of "parts of town". I'll let others address that.

Welcome to Houston!

Social life and entertainment is in the city so not sure why you want to live in the burbs and spend all your time in traffic.

Sugar Land or Missouri City would be good. The center of Houston's huge Nigerian population is on Bisonnet St especially in the Westwood area between 59 and the Beltway.

Best thing you can do is contact the nigerian community in Houston, I bet they have a facebook group and ask them what they think.

I was told that Dallas was an upcoming area for young professionals. But, I guess not. Thank you for your reply though.
