If you bought last year the easiest thing to do is to take your HUD statement from closing unless you paid more than what they appraised it at

Is there someplace where we can find the information that Ft. Bend County used to determine property values? Also, where can I find information on recently sold properties in my neighborhood?

To find historic vales of neighborhood, go to another real estate website http://www.redfin.com, type in an address to start searching, and then on the list of menu available, select "Public Records". HAR.com does not make it easy for you to find sold prices, if available at all...

Their appraised value is the same as what I paid for the house. Should I try to protest?

Hard to argue your house is worth less than what you paid for. Of course, they technically have no record of what you bought it for. You can always try.

Prey do you have the link that you used for the protest. I've looked and can not find it.

If it's what you paid for it last year what do you think it's worth now and what would be your rationale to support your number?

Did you get the assessment mailer yet? That will have your online protest ID, once you have it, look up your house on the MCAD site and click on the Protest link up top.
