We'll be moving to Houston during the summer. My husband is already working near IAH airport. What areas/neighborhoods do you recommend?

We drove last weekend around Humble, Kingwood, Atascocita, Spring and The Woodlands just checking areas and it's so overwhelming!

I have a 9y.o going to 4th grade next year. I was checking Humble ISD and Conroe ISD and info is pretty similar, I guess, between these 2 ISDs. Any reasons why I should pick one over the other?

Ideally, we'd like a master planned community in these areas?.. Which communities should I look into?.. Some people recommended Eagle Springs, Fall Creek, The Grove. Any other recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you have good suggestions to check out. Humble has stronger and weaker schools. Same is true of Conroe, but the gap isn't as big. I would stick to one of those two or Klein ISD and avoid Spring ISD or Aldine ISD.

Personally, I really like the Woodlands. Its just better designed than Kingwood and has a nicer feel. You may find one of the newer neighborhoods more to your liking and more convenient to IAH.

Can you give us a budget to work with ? How many bedrooms do you want. Do you want a bigger lot, are there any special activities like Hiking, boating, or biking, that you participate in,ect ?

We're maybe looking at 350K-ish... we really need 3 bedrooms.. but would love to have 4 if possible.... My kiddo will be in 4th grade, GT, speech therapy... She's a swimmer so I was also looking at swim clubs in the area and also piano/guitar. I'd love to have a good gym relatively close.. I was thinking Lifetime Fitness because they might have swim club for my child (haven't checked with them yet!).

I like neighborhoods with a community area (pool, park, walking trails, events...). Normal size lot is fine.

Thanks for your help!

Kingwood and Atascocita have great schools and plenty of pool clubs and music schools. You should be able to find what you need in your budget.

Live in Katy, but kiddos swim year round across the area. TWST is a very impressive swim club, both in facilities and qualities of coaches.

I've not been quite as impressed but Blue Tide has a fairly large presence at Gulf Swimming (local club governing body) events

Thank you all so much for all the information!.. I've saved all your tips! Heading to Houston on Tuesday to finally meet our 'assigned Realtor'...and check the area.

We're visiting Kingwood / Atascocita, The Woodlands and Spring. It's so overwhelming with all the schools. I see some communities are split, different ISD's....Wish me luck please! =)

Any particular school / ISD that I should avoid?..

Thanks!
