I am looking for AC Duct Cleaning services. Our house is 3200 SQ FT 2 story.

Any recommendations for the services will be appreciated? Also how much does it typically costs?

Thanks,

Why? Duct cleaning is generally unnecessary if you have used and changed AC filters on schedule and haven't had any construction done in the house. We looked into this a few years back and decided it is a waste of time and money.

marykate1, had you done a search for your question, you'd have found several threads, both recommending a local company and debating the pros/cons of A/C duct cleaning:

I had mine cleaned because a family member has bad allergies. It did help in our case.

Hi,

Thank you everyone! Yes I did research and most of the places I read it was written that it was unnecessary. I was just thinking if Duct cleaning will help with my allergies. I get extreme sore throat during pollen season. I was wondering if cleaning the ducts will help but maybe not... Thanks a lot again.

The problem isn't in your ducts, it's in the air you breathe outside, and there's little you can do for that.

The duct cleaning helped my indoor allergies and yes they exist. My house had a 15+ year old ac system. Newer homes, it's probably not needed but in an older one, it might help. So does replacing carpet with solid surface flooring. It isn't just outdoor allergies that bother people. Everyone is unique. My main allergies are dust, dust mites, mold, mildew, offgassing from new construction items in homes, insect sprays and those scentsy things just to name a few indoor allergens. I've also got the outdoor allergies but seems indoor ones often affect me more. My spouse is primarily affected by the outdoor allergies of ragweed and trees.

FWIW, I've used Guardian Chimney Sweep for my current and previous house to clean the dryer ducts and the chimney. I used an Angie's List coupon both times, so the price was good. On my previous house, i also asked them to come in and clean the AC ducts, as well (figured i would do it once since i didn't know how often the previous owners changed the filters). They opened the intake and said it was fine. It was nice to have them be honest about it and not do an unnecessary service.

Edit: I do agree with the other posters that you probably don't need this done as long as you change the filters. But i do recommend Guardian for the dryer duct, kitchen exhaust, etc cleaning if you don't want to do it yourself.
